Jump Shots

Jump shots are where a cue ball or an object ball leaves the table surface. For straight jump shots, it is usually done with a jump cue. It is shorter and lighter than a normal playing cue, and it requires a very hard special tip. Although jump shots are generally utilized to jump the cue ball over obstructing balls, including a stroke directly into an object ball, or into a cushion with jump action, they are usually sometimes executed with a normal playing cue.

1, 2, 3 Lefty Righty Chopsticks

This is a shot I saw Andy Segal and Gabi Visoiu executed for ESPN Trick Shot Magic 2013. Here you go righty and lefty with one stick, then to two, and then to three. I tried to jump 3 balls righty, but I couldn't figure out how to do it, so I immediately switch to lefty and made the shot. Next time, I'll try to do it right handed once I figure out how... until today on January, 8th, 2016, I did. :)

Down The Line *

Andy Segal created this shot and was awarded for Most Creative Trick Shot at the Masters Championship 2013 in Edison, NJ. I find this to be one of the greatest trick shot creations known to man, and it's easy to execute if you get your speed and angle right.

Stretch

This is one from ESPN Trick Shot Magic 2013. Gabi made it with ease, but Andy didn't have much success with it, but when I performed this shot with him in Southington, CT for the Ultimate Trick Shot Tour, he did it with ease. Here, I placed the racks on the diamond lines, meaning your body and your jump stick has to stay in the zone on both sides.

Quad Jump *

One of the more difficult trick shots from Andy Segal's Cue Magic Book. You jump 4 balls with both hands, and make them into the pocket. Funny, how I can jump 4 balls this way as oppose to doing it through "The Progression Jump" from the previous jump page.

High & Low Double Jump

This is the classic Double Jump shot from Andy Segal's Cue Magic Book. Here, I like to add the High Bar shot with a wooden rack on top of my mini pool table from TJMaxx. This requires a Dr. Popper or a Marty Carey "Jump Q", but either way works.

Nick's Juggle Jump

This is a shot Nick Nikolaidis easily nailed in Trick Shot Magic 2013. The 3 balls go three rails, jump through the rack and 3 rails again into the corner pocket. In this version, I used an open bridge and my hand on the table, same as what Nick had in the match.

Nick's Lefty Righty 6-Pack

Here is a shot Nick Nikolaidis and Jamey Gray almost made in ESPN Trick Shot Magic 2013. The goal here is to place an object ball in the rack, hit it with your left hand, and then repeat with your right hand. The time limit here is 20 seconds, and I did it in about 18 seconds. Jamey and Nick couldn't make it, but I bet they will try it again this year for Trick Shot Magic 2014 in San Diego, California.

Triple Jump w/out Racks

A simple trick shot where I jump three balls over the rack and into the side pocket. I find it more interesting to do it without the racks guiding the balls into the pocket, but it's a little more challenging than you think. You have to jump the 1 and 3 with english to make them slide into the side pocket.

Sticky Jump *

Another simple trick shot that was invented by Andy Segal. You jump the cue ball over the chalk and it hits the top of the painter's tape inner ring, and they both fall down leaving the cue ball trapped. Jamey Gray may think it's a stupid shot, but I think it's a little creative - point taken for Andy thinking outside of the box.

Andy's Jump Configuration

Andy Segal created this one for ESPN Trick Shot Magic 2013. Both Andy and Gabi made it flawlessly, but Gabi's part was knowing at last minute that the 5 and 6 is an opposite hand shot. It follows everything the same way as how Andy formatted this shot, but give it a shot, you may be surprised on how difficult this trick shot can be if you got the skills of a true trick shot master. I love this shot, and I hope you will too if you got the skills for it.
